EESCOOP2025

The VIII International Congress on Social Economy EESCOOP (School of Professional Specialization in Social Economy, Cooperatives, and Other Participatory Organizations) will take place on June 12-13, 2025, on San Simón Island (Redondela). 

Under the theme "Social Economy Enterprises: From Traditional Activities to Technological and Social Innovation"...

...the conference seeks to share current lines of research and practical experiences being developed in this field. A key reference point remains the traditional activities associated with the social economy, where cooperative principles have ensured their continued existence and growth. Equally important are the emerging activities in the service sector, where successful initiatives are arising, driven by factors such as technological innovation.

This gathering of researchers has been held since 1996 in the form of research seminars, transitioning to an International Conference format in 2016 due to the growing interest these meetings generated and with the aim of opening participation to researchers from universities in other countries. Organized this year by the Faculty of Commerce at the University of Vigo, the conference aims to serve as a meeting point for all those interested in the social economy.

Registration for the conference is now open. The deadline for authors is April 20 and for non-authors is June 2.

CONFERENCE VENUE

San Simón Island

San Simón Island, a natural setting of great historical and cultural significance. This archipelago, located in the Ría de Vigo (Vigo stuary) and belonging to the municipality of Redondela, is made up of several islands, among which San Antonio and San Simón stand out.

These two islands, connected by a bridge, house the main historical and cultural facilities, a testament to the rich history of the area over the centuries.
